New Amsterdam Records, the groundbreaking record label co-founded by Wassaic musician Judd Greenstein, headquartered in Red Hook, Brooklyn was devastated by the flooding. In addition to enormous physical damages to their space, 70% of their catalog of CDs has been destroyed, including the works of 2012 Wassaic Project Festival musician, Victoire. Please take a moment to read their account, help spread the word, and contribute if you can.

Wassaic Project artists Adam Eckstrom and Lauren Was, collaboratively known as Ghost of a Dream, are participating in a residency at,Smack Mellon, in Dumbo where their studio was submerged during the storm. The toxic mix of salt water and chemicals destroyed art works and materials including their enormous collections of baseball cards, greeting cards, trophies and lottery tickets.
Printed Matter, as many art galleries in Chelsea, suffered substantial damage when their basement storage facility took on more than six feet of water during the storm.
In an effort to assist the New York City cultural community’s recovery, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs is taking a survey to  assess the impact of the storm on artists.

Please fill out this survey today or as soon as possible. To access the post-Sandy survey, send an email to
dandersson@ culture.nyc.gov.
If you’re trying to salvage your artworks, AIC is a great resource.
